I am a data scientist which means that I daily deal with any possible combination of “statistics”, “predictive modelling”, “computer programming”, “data visualization”, “dashboard building”, “data management”, “the next big cloud thing”, “the next big data thing” and produce something valuable out it: take that entropy!
Bio: I was born in the beautiful Sicilian town of Siracusa. At age 7, I became passionate about science after watching one of the best educational science shows ever done on Italian TV. It was called “Quark” and had beautiful and funny cartoons explaining things like atoms, stars, entropy, etc…
Growing up the passion for science remained. At the age of 18, I went to study (thank you mom and dad) Physics at the University of Pisa. After defending my master thesis I accepted the proposal of my adviser and moved to Denton (Texas) to study for my PhD at the University of North Texas. This turned out to be a good move. I learned English, studied things that I like, met lifelong friends, and met my beautiful wife. Fast forward 20 years, many travels back and forth between the old and the new continent, 2 daughters, 3 cats, 1 dog, and gray hair: I now call Chapel Hill, North Carolina my home.
